Another Episode Title…

By Adam | June 25, 2008

It’s kind of slow on the Private Practice news front lately (even though the show’s been back in production for over a month), but at least we have these enticing episode titles to keep us speculating. While there still hasn’t been any clarification on season two premiere’s title, or a title for episode 203, we now have the title for episode 204 thanks to SpoilerTV. And the title? Well, it’s “Past Tense.” Expect it to air sometime in October 2008 (barring any unfortunate strikes.)

Does Addison Have Multiple Personalities?

By Jen | June 19, 2008

Before I sat down to write this editorial I had to set the mood.  I climbed into my favorite grey sweats, pulled on my Team Addison shirt, set a cup of hot juju on the end table, and watched hours of Addison.  What could be better than that?  So, I’ve been thinking about how I’ve read on different message boards that LA Addison isn’t the same as Seattle Addison.  But is that really true or are we just seeing sides of Addison that we didn’t know were there?  Addison had different expectations coming into each city.  She had different wants and needs.

Seattle Addison was professionally confident, compassionate, and on her game at all times; well, most times; okay, she was on her game as long as Mark wasn’t around.  Personally, however, Addison was a wreck.  She felt lonely in her marriage and slept with her husband’s best friend.  She came to Seattle to try to repair her broken marriage only have it all thrown back in her face when her husband slept with the girlfriend he had told her he no longer had.  Addison has problems with self-confidence outside of her double-board certified profession.  She craves attention.  She tends to jump into something quickly to momentarily appease her feelings of inadequacy and loneliness.  But with that, Addison has an amazing ability to admit to her mistakes and apologize for them.  She is also incredibly sarcastic and witty.  In Seattle, we saw balance.  We saw her stand confidently (and “Satanish” to protect her confidence) in the hospital when everyone knew what she did in her marriage and when she was the NY outsider coming in to rain on the parade of Meredith and Derek.  But, we also saw her vulnerability and sorrow at what had become of her personal life; hence the nickname “Saddison.”

With her move to LA, we saw someone who didn’t quite know what she wanted out of her life other than something new.  She didn’t know where she stood in the practice or with her friends who, by her own admission, had been ignored for years.  Addison was like a child riding a bicycle without training wheels for the first time.  She was a little out of her element.  She faltered and had set backs.  She had hopes that were dashed.  But, every week we saw her get back on that bike and pedal again.  She’s making new friends.  She’s trying out new loves.  She finally has people that she can fall apart with and know that they will support her when she puts her foot back on that pedal.

I don’t think there’s so much of a Seattle Addison vs an LA Addison as there is a Dynamic Addison.  She’s still an amazing surgeon.  She still gets too emotionally attached to her patients.  It’s still hard for her to let go of places and things that she’s loved.  She still wants things to remain the same for comfort value while in the same breath wanting change for her life.  She still craves male companionship.  She’s still compassionate, caring, and empathetic.  She’s still Addison.  She’s just a more evolved Addison.

So, tell me what you think.  Do you agree with me or do you think the writers have totally changed the character? Leave me a comment on your Addisonian thoughts! :)

Equal and Opposite

By Adam | June 3, 2008

According to SpoilerTV, episode 202 will be entitled “Equal and Opposite.” The title of episode 201 is currently under dispute as well, as it is either “Hiding in Plain Sight,” as earlier reported, or “A Family Thing.” Personally, I like “Hiding in Plain Sight” better. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Private Practice returns this September to Wednesday nights on ABC.

Head’s Up Kate Walsh Fans!

By Jen | May 28, 2008

According to the June 2-8 TV Guide, Kate will be gracing Jimmy Kimmel’s couch on June 17th!  Yay!  We do love Kate appearances!

Here’s the official description from TV Guide on being a favorite guest of the show:

”She is a great guest because she’s sexy and she has great energy,” explains Jordan [Kimmel’s talent booker].  “She has a twinkle in her eye.”

We certainly agree!
